“The Special Investigatory of Service of RA is continuing its criminal investigation of the case on the crimes committed during the March 1st-2nd 2008 period during the mass public disorder in Yerevan. In this regard, the Special Investigatory Service, expecting public support, additionally requests all those who can provide information on crimes committed on March 1st-2nd 2008 during the mass disorders occurred in Yerevan, especially regarding the circumstances of the deaths of the ten deceased persons, to please apply to the Investigation group of the Special Investigatory Service on 010 511 612 or attend the Special Investigatory Service at 5 Vazgen Sargsyan Street in Yerevan.
Strasbourg, 14.04.2011 - While welcoming the authorities' many initiatives for electoral reform and reform of the judiciary and the police, the co-rapporteurs of the Monitoring Committee of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) on the honouring of obligations and commitments by Armenia (John Prescott, United Kingdom, SOC, and Axel Fischer, Germany, EPP/CD) say that it is now time for these initiatives to be translated into action.
On April 12th 2011, the Helsinki Association received information that the European Court of Human Rights had determined the deadline for the final appeal regarding the victims of 1st March 2008 protests for 6th May 2011 and had outlined the forms of appeal. A preliminary letter of intention to appeal the lawsuit of the victims of March 1st had previously been sent to the Court.
Strasbourg, 23.03.2011 – At the end of a two-day visit to Yerevan, the monitoring co-rapporteurs for Armenia of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE), John Prescott (United Kingdom, SOC) and Axel Fischer (Germany, EPP/CD) have welcomed the significant number of reforms with regard to the police, judiciary and election framework that were initiated by the authorities to address the recommendations made in the wake of the March 2008 events by, among others, PACE and the National Assembly of Armenia.
