Bartosz Pilitowski, Court Monitoring Program for Youth
For the past four years, the Helsinki Association NGO has been carrying out a continuous court monitoring initiative for young people in cooperation with the Solidarity Foundation of the Republic of Poland (SFPL). Although this initiative has operated under different program names in previous years, it remains a long-term, ongoing effort aimed at empowering young people to actively engage in the legal processes of their communities.
In cooperation with the Court Watch Poland, the NGO has developed a new electronic monitoring tool—the Court Monitoring Questionnaire—designed to align with the organization’s updated methodologies. This tool aims to facilitate and enhance monitoring activities.
On November 18, 2024, the organization presented the ““Empowering Youth through Court Monitoring and Legal Education: Advancing Human Rights, Fair Trials, and Anti-Corruption with Special Focus on the Syunik Region of Armenia” report. This report summarizes the experiences and outcomes of working with youth in the aforementioned areas.
Bartosz Pilitowski, founder and president of Court Watch Poland, shared a video message with the participants, which is presented for your attention. In his welcoming and encouraging speech, he emphasized the importance of youth court monitoring programs, highlighting their vital role in promoting civic engagement and strengthening legal awareness.
The report was presented within the framework of the “Court Monitoring and Fostering Legal Awareness for Active Citizenship in Syunik” project, which is implemented within the framework of the “Resistant Syunik Team Europe” initiative, together with Solidarity Fund PL and co-funded by the Polish Development Cooperation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Poland.
