At 12:00 session penitentiary staff prevented journalists and monitors from taking photo and video cameras with them alleging the judge’s decision. In fact, the complaint was being heard for the first time, and during the hearing the judge declined the assertions regarding court’s decision of prohibition. At 14:00 hearing, based on the judge’s rejection of the fact of prohibition during the first hearing photo and video cameras were unbanned. Of the 196 countries and territories assessed during 2010, a total of 68 (35 percent) were rated Free, 65 (33 percent) were rated Partly Free, and 63 (32 percent) were rated Not Free. The report also noted several key trends driving the ongoing threats to media freedom. Armenia ranks among the 63 countries which are rated Not Free Report is available here
